Ricky Stanicky (2024)

Did I like it?

Yes.

Was it quality? Why?

Yes. I've seen many reviews for the film that fall on the negative side of the scale, but I'm a bit unsure why. It's an adult comedy, as it presents itself, and goes beyond what I'd see as average/cliche. For me, if a piece of media declares itself as something in particular, follows through on representing that classification, and further surprises you, then, so long as you enjoy that classification, you will find said piece of media as not only worth your time, but also of quality.

Would I watch it again? Why?

Yes. I'd watch this again in the company of someone that hasn't seen it. While it is filled with surprise moments, which bolsters the comedy itself, none of said surprises would be so ruined by the lack of the surprise. Often, I think that can be a difficulty of comedy in general, but in the case of Ricky Stanicky, the humor should stand up.

Do I think it is accessible? Why?

For adults, yes... Perhaps not. Can be rather crass at times, but has the feel of a classic comedy. I was open to something that'd make me laugh, and Ricky Stanicky delivered such well. Again, it is exactly what it declares itself to be.
